Hi,
I am really new here and just tried to compile the template, but it thows out an Exeption i would not be able to fix alone because im really new in that stuff here.

I am using Visual Studio 2005 Express + .net framework 2.0 and Dx SDK feb 2006 and i know that it's working well =)

Another Problem is that i cannot execute the files from the FRB SDK... there's always an JIT debugging window stopping me.

perhaps someone can get the error or some solution ideas? would be nice, thanks

Welcome to FRB, Silver.

Although you mentioned it, how do you know that the DX is installed? I am not saying this to question your understanding, but this is a textbook example of what the computer does when DX is not installed.

Did you run the DX web installer? Also, what OS are you running?

The link for the DX web installer is:

I am using Windows XP Pro

The only thing i installed was DirectX SDK 06 Feb and thougt it would fit...

I know that it is working because i had some other projects running with DirectX especially Direct3D on it and i was just able to compile without any problems =D

well thanks!
now everything is working... perhaps my managed DX that was installed was a bit too old =DD

<whew> I'm glad to see that it worked. Those kinds of problems are my favorite and least favorite - favorite because generally a quick run of the DX installer fixes everything, but least favorite because if that doesn't fix the problem, it could be very difficult to solve. Anyway, let me know if you have any problems and I hope you enjoy FRB!

I've got exactly the same problem - when trying to compile the template project VC# 2008 Express throws an exception "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
/* Unfortunately */ I have the latest DirectX (both runtime and SDK) installed...

I've just figured out that my video card doesn't support Shader Model 2.0 so it may be the reason.

Ah, well...this is funny. You posted in the FRB MDX version of the engine - which is the version of FRB that you should use if your GFX card does not support shader model 2.0. You're probably using FRB XNA. So...try FRB MDX that out and see if it solves it.

Ah, you're absolutely right - I was using XNA 3.1. Sorry for being such a newbie. I've tried the MDX version and the template worked like a charm. Thanks a lot!
